True Friends Will Never Leave

Recently one of my best friends moved away. We knew this day was coming and we spent the last few months of school and summer doing everything we had wanted to do together. We went to Vortex Springs,  made numerous dance videos and so much more. Our friendship became more like a sisterhood because we spent so much time together. We had so many good times during this summer such as making cake balls and getting the entire kitchen as well as ourselves messy. By the time she had to move we were both incredibly sad but neither one of had made it a sappy goodbye because we knew we'd keep in touch.
This taught me that just because a friend moves away it doesn't mean the friendship has to end. Carmen now lives across the country but it hasn't affected out friendship at all. We still have periodical phone calls as well as Skype sessions. We were best friends before she moved and we will remain just as good of friends with her gone.

If At First You Fail, Try Try Again

During the age of four to about thirteen I rode and showed horses. I rode multiple horses during these years. At one point I was riding two horses one named Jack and the other Logan. Logan was the horse that i preferred to ride but my trainer also used to make me ride Jack. Jack was a smaller pony who was very disobedient. He got spooked easily and would bolt. One particular time I remember I was at my trainers house taking a lesson and I about to go over a jump with Jack when all of a sudden he got spooked by something and began running as fast as he could. He jumped the jump and began running around the field. I fell off soon after he jumped the jump because i had lost my balance. I remember I did not want to get back on the pony. I was probably seven or eight at the time so i was very scared to get back on the horse. I remember my trainer made me go get back on the horse and redo the course again and this time make sure nothing went wrong.

This taught me that if I fail at something one I should try again. I was terrified to et back on the horse but I did and I am very thankful to my trainer for making me do so. I was so scared to redo the course but the second time I did everything went perfect. I now know that no matter how scared i am or how bad something went the first time I should always try again. My trainer also taught me to not quick something until you got it right.

A Walk for Wheelchairs

Last year during spring break 3 of my friends and I did a walk across Perdido Key. The walk was 33 miles and we stretched it out over a course of three days. On the first day Chandler, Deanna, Teal, and I woke up and had started the walk by eight a.m. During the beginning we walked and had normal conversations because I was kinda new to the group and we didn't really know how everyone acted. As the day progressed however we saw just how weird everyone was. During the last 5 miles of the first day we all began to act crazy. We were all dragging and all that we could see was the endless beach. All of a sudden I started singing the beloved Disney song "Under the Sea." Now when I say sing I mean yell and completely butcher the song. After I started singing, all of us began singing random songs. We were like our own personal version of "Girl Talk." The first day was by far the worst day of the walk and the other two days we not near as bad. On the final day I did however drop my phone into the water and sprained my ankle jumping in after it trying to rescue it. By the time we finished the walk all of us were so tired but we all knew it was well worth it.
The walk taught me not to take simple things like being able to walk for granted. We were able to raise thousand of dollars to help children who are less fortunate then us. While the walk was hard work it was tons of fun and i honestly could not imagine not being able to do it because i could not walk and didn't  the the machines necessary to get me from place to place.

She's fabulous, but She's Evil.

In 8th grade, I was taught a very valuable lesson. I was the new girl to middle school, coming in at the beginning of 8th grade instead of starting like most at 6th grade. Being new, I was shy and didn't know hardly anyone. While some people were very nice to me other were, for lack of a better term, not so nice. I had never done anything to these girls in fact i had barely even talked to them yet the majority of the "cool girls" despised me. When i say despised me, i don't mean they made fun of me of bluntly were mean to my face. It was the little things they would do. I knew i would never be in that group of girls even though i had never done anything to them. I never let this affect me in fact I think it made me a better person.

During the though time I had in 8th grade, it made me realize I should never put anyone else though what those few girls had put me though. It made me never want to hate girls just because they were new or didn't fit into their group. Without those group of girls being mean to me I never would have met all the other friends and one of my best friends Carmen. 8th grade taught me to stop being so judgmental and to give others a chance.

Flashlight Tag Turned Bad

Four years ago on Friday the thirteenth I was at the Simmons house with my brother the Sports family and our friend Ben Ishee. We all were getting ready to go play flashlight tag and were picking out teams we wanted to play with. During all this hype I was standing behind my brother, Sam, when he and Heather Sport started to bicker about who would have the flash light first. Me, being so not bright at the moment, saw them arguing and didn’t move from behind my brother. All of a sudden Heather reached for the flashlight and my brother swung his arm back hitting me in the face with the flashlight during the process.
This night we had all planned on playing best game of flashlight tag ever. When I got hit in the face, everyone all joined me inside making sure I was okay. This incident taught me that true friends would cancel their plans for you. While yes I was the made fun of the whole night for talking funny especially when I suggested playing the game boggle and it came out foggle. Sometimes there’s nothing better then being surrounded by the best of friends and making some memories you’ll never forget.

Petrea

My third teacher is a family friend Petrea. Petrea is such an inspirational person to me. She is in her late fifties and has done so much in her life. Whenever I am around Petrea she makes me feel like I can do anything. She is so supportive of anything I want to do. She is a very selfless fearless women and can inspire anyone to do anything.

My Dad

The second teacher in my life is my dad. My dad is one person who I know will always be there for me in my life. He grew up in a small town in Colorado and was the second to youngest out of seven children. My dad dropped out of high school during his sophomore year of high school and began working for his dad who was a woodworker. My dad’s dad had a stroke at the age of forty and he also lost one of his sisters while growing up. Eventually he met my mom and they got married and had six kids. I know that no matter what I do my dad has an unconditional love for me. He has taught me that if you work hard for what you want you can get it. He dropped out of school and still has a successful business that he started himself and he was able to provide for his family. He’s taught me that there’s still good in life even when it seems like a lot of bad things are happening.
